just a phase, and that Jackie would grow out of it. She did not seem to be at all worried.

This is exactly correct. And, yes, 5 year olds love to explore social encounters and that can come out in surprising ways. Youngsters at that age are just becoming aware of social environments beyond the family. Other kids, other human beings walking about, television that isn't a cartoon, and neighbors (people that are seen often.)

Hopefully, natural stubbornness and selfishness have begun to die off and social skill building is now beginning to develop. Oh, what fun it is to get someone (other than Mom and Dad) to become emotional. Surprise and embarrassment is tops on the hit parade. And youngsters will love to "get a rise" out of anyone. Nudity would not have been considered if the 5 year old hadn't seen the emotionalism created when visiting the American Deep South (a separate country from the "regular" U.S., eh?)

My son was 5 and, while my wife and I went to the corner store and walked back, we saw him standing on the window sill of our apartment almost 2 stories up. I just stared but his Mom screamed. Little Gimwinkle Jr. just smiled. Mission accomplished.
