For me, I cut my music-teeth on much of the mid-60's music on the radio. very little from Elvis but lots of CCR, Dooby Bros., Bobby Gentry, Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, Jefferson Airplane (Starship), Byrds, Simon and Garfunkel, Steppenwolf, Mamas and Papas, Crosby Stills and Nash (some with Young), Monkeys, Tommy James and the Shondells, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Van Morrison!, Animals, Doors, Buffalo Springfield, The WHO [oh hell yes!], Marvin Gaye, and on and on.
I have a sizable library for music. I have over 2,000 artists/groups with over 31,000 recordings. Plus, I have access to YouTube and just about any song that's ever been recorded. These days, though, with my tendency to lounge on my sailboat, I love to listen to Hearts of Space and the genre that exploded from Stephen Hill. Vangelis, Tangerine Dream, Enya, Loreena McKennit, Yanni, and hundreds more. Rap just makes me want to (be sick) and Acid Rock hurts my ears. Most of Country Western is boring but every now and then something good comes out. Not sure what you can call "screaming into a microphone" but it's listed as music. I've heard people fart better sounds than that. Classics like Mozart, Bach, Brahms, Beethovan, etc., I can listen to once or twice a year. Christmas carols make me want to smash the radio that's playing it. Some contemporary Chinese stuff is really good. Traditional Chinese is just not my thing. Wifey likes it, of course. (Step)daughter is deep into Hip-Hop but I find it boring. |
