Never Say Never

"You people will NEVER be accepted."

They used to come here to tell us that kids would never be given age tailored sex ed in school. "That's NEVER gonna happen!"

Well, it's happening, and it won't be long before the number of unwanted encounters plummets, because kids will actually know what's happening and have a good chance at either stopping it or reporting it right away, as they should when they are pressured or forced into things. Think of all the actual abuse survivors whose anger stems from not knowing what the hell was going on at the time. It's a pretty big percentage.

I can't predict the future, but equipping kids with the knowledge to stop unwanted advances, or to know to report it immediately to prevent even more cases is a move in the right direction.

Personally speaking, it's concerning to me that some areas are using it to also instill political viewpoints about things like gender identity and preferences and the like. They ought to be sticking to the biology and the simple right to autonomy over one's own body, as in, you don't have to let someone do what they want to you simply because they are older or stronger or because they have authority over you.

Still, I am expecting unwanted encounters to drop significantly as a result of education, and with that will be a drop in lifelong animosity and/or the psychological trauma that comes from having participated unknowingly in a "shameful" social taboo.

There's nothing wrong with properly educating kids on how their bodies work, and definitely nothing wrong with making them realize they have an inalienable human right to refuse advances.

Some here might say the educators will also try to insist that even WANTED contact is terrible.

I'm guessing they will, but I'm not inclined to sell young people short on that aspect. They are smarter than the credit that's often given to them.

It's the direction, stupid.

Moving forward:)
