Are you insinuating you are a shrink?

Otherwise, speak for yourself:p

I've had the attraction for decades. I've never once felt an urge to force myself on anyone, or even try to trick them into anything.

As for all the blather some are saying about mental stress and the like, don't place the cart before the horse. The simple knowledge of having a label of "outcast" by a society brings with it mental and emotional challenges. Nobody ever read The Scarlet Letter in high school? Clearly her mental stress came from her own lack of moral fortitude, not because her value as a human being or member of society was being severely devalued.

"Well I've found that people who live online and have zero social life or social skills and never held a job to often have emotional or mental issues." No way? What an epiphany. What about all the people that you'd meet day to day in real life? People that have friends and jobs and shared hobbies and mentor or volunteer and take classes and get out and generally do stuff? I hear those people exist and can still be pedo.

Then again, having to keep secret such a basic part of oneself DOES lend itself to self-imposed isolation. The fact is, it's just easier and feels safer, and more people tend toward the easier path. People who have built up a healthy life for themselves in the community have a little part of themselves inside that knows they could lose all of it in one fell swoop if their little secret ever got out, and it wouldn't even take acting on desires, just having their desires revealed publicly.

Oh, I am CERTAIN some people are manifesting symptoms of past trauma and complete lack of self-control. I've witnessed it in a few people, where some seem to turn into a completely different person just because there's a kid located nearby. That's a problem. On the other hand, I've met people who don't express things like this at all even when there's kids in the vicinity.

Overall, I think it's definitely a good thing for people to know they can access mental health services without the fear of law enforcement getting involved, and there is extreme mistrust in that regard, no matter what the code or the law says. That is not the case for many today, and their fear is not unjustified.

At the same time, some are just wanting help dealing with the rejected social status of the attraction, but to my knowledge, the only services provided will tell people the attraction is wrong or bad. Many people would refuse services on that basis alone, as it demands surrender of principles as a condition for help in dealing with social disapproval and judgement.

Those who post here to declare everyone has a mental disorder, I hope leaving here means getting out into the world and not drifting to some other virtual realm. You might find that those who dwell mostly only on the internet are going to have similar issues no matter what other community you land in.

I've never been too bothered by people who declare their dissatisfaction with other posters they've met here, although I think you meant someone other than sans. I've met all types of people here. We all arrive with our different burdens or lucky lots, and quite often a combination of the two. Those who like to walk up to kick sand in the faces of those they hope are just below themselves has only ever served to make it more interesting and fun.
