Basically, because it's not a particularly useful way to die.

There ain't nothing else, and the problem isn't so much that this happened, or even that wars, slavery, the holocaust and the like are the eternal state, with not a moment without them and frankly not often a moment with anything more, but rather that it was possible in the first place, regardless of what actually happened.

So no, there's no good here. Going off a cliff alone just isn't that useful of a way to die. Maybe something at your province/states' capital or an organophosphate release in a major city.

...but not just some useless quiet nothing. What's the good in that?
