Sex education in primary schools

With so many documented cases of positive inter-generational relationships, it's simply not true to say such relationships are always harmful or even commonly harmful.

Perpetuating this myth only drives such relationships underground where those relationships that are harmful cannot be seen or dealt with, increasing the severity and frequency of harmful relationships.

Just like with education around contraception, it's far better to accept that young people are having relationships including sexual relationships within their own age groups and with adults, remove the taboo, remove the fear of talking about it and create an environment where children can talk and seek guidance and advice safely. It makes no sense to say children should have sex education because the reality is that they have sex and need to learn how to have it safely but then make it taboo and impossible to talk about sexual activity with adults, as if it doesn't happen and the same need for safety isn't needed.
