...but what dangers in fact threat us when we fall asleep?

Unknown. But sleep is a baby's natural state, it is very familiar to us, so we are not afraid of the unknown.

Death. But it can also happen in the state of awakeness.

Dreams.

In the last two years I have had two nightmares that sound bad but in fact were not very bad.

In the first nightmare I was visiting my childhood home with some other people. Then I sensed that my mother is coming from the dark part of the house, and I shouted aloud: Mother is coming with an axe!

I woke up and laughed a little because I thought that the neighbours might have heard me.

In the second nightmare I was in hell. There were no flames and no real devils. The people spent time in some kind of barracks and outside them. The devils were thick-necked, crosseyed men. I told everybody that I will not get very old there, and they said, "That's what everyone says in the beginning".

I was right, I woke up and got out of there.
