You make a good point that some diseases called sexually transmitted diseases are not always, or even usually, sexually transmitted.

It would still be irresponsible not to let the public know about the dangers of such diseases as are primarily sexually transmitted, and how to avoid the most obvious ways of getting the disease.

And I have nothing against finding new ways of doing things. But there are reasons why we have certain common expressions:

"Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know."

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

It was people abandoning the status quo that led to pedophiles becoming scapegoats for everything that goes wrong in the world. It was people who didn't understand the world they inherited trying to make it better who made it worse. Don't you think that's worth a look?

Not that we should stop trying to make the world a better place, but shouldn't we be a bit cautious about abandoning solutions that mostly worked?
