A monk from Thailand once showed how much control over his body that he had. He sat in lotus position, closed his eyes, and let out all air out of his lungs that he could. He fell over as he passed out.

The urge to breathe is tremendously strong to our primitive brains. In fact, there is a fail-safe that, if we do lose consciousness, our automatic systems do their thing. We don't die. Of course, it IS dangerous to do this but the point here is answering what, in life, is worth living.

There is no continued existence once your body stops functioning. You simple do not exist. It's not "your" dead body; it's "a" dead body. One that you did operate previously. But, since there is no "you" anymore, well, you get the point. (For those of you who DO claim of a continued existence somehow, you are welcome to offer proof... I mean, proof; not opinion or hypotheses.) Short of "escaping" unbearable pain and suffering, death should be avoided at all costs. Why? Because you only get one life and that's it. It is kind of silly to simply shorten it for any reason other than to save a life of another, important being in your life. I would gladly end my life for a little girl who needed it to happen. I would gladly end my life for a member of my loving family who needed it to happen. And, of course, I would welcome an early death in order to escape unbearable pain and suffering.

So, life is boring? Has no meaning? Doesn't do anything for you? Well, do what you can to continue existing and just wait. Death will arrive in due course.

Now, here's a little something you haven't considered: I have checked the future history of you in the "book of life" and there, on page 3,352, line 17, in bold print it reads, "[griffith] has a very, very close and physical encounter with [name redacted] and lives happily together with Her for another 487 days." Yup, that's you. So, you do NOT stop existing until you meet and love Her.

Oh, you think I'm joking? If you prove me wrong, look what you will be giving up. THAT, my friend, is better than life.
