Three Sisters

Posted by RedViolin on Wednesday, October 09 2019 at 3:11:29PM

At a recent fall church event, I was blessed to have frequent contact with three young sisters. S. is 9, B. is 7, and K. is 4.

I've mentioned S. before, although not by name. I've had a crush on her since I first started attending this church. She is a tall slender beauty with large hazel eyes and a pert button nose set in an exceptionally cute tan-free face. S. has the graceful carriage of a regal princess. She is quite an elegant and gorgeous young girl. However, S. has never given me a second glance.

B. is another story. I had a brief exchange with her last month when she was celebrating her 7th birthday. She briefly sat next to me to announce it, and I wished her a fantastic day. B. is also quite attractive. Her eyes are a bit darker than her sister's and her body is more round and athletic. Compared to S., she is a little nerdy but much more approachable.

Then there's K. Kay is a little ragamuffin with wild hair and dark sparking eyes. She is always extremely active. When she is not fighting with her mom, she loves to run about and get into all sorts of trouble. Her mom once confided to me that K. is her biggest challenge. She said that K. is a virtual terror to her older sisters, who try to avoid her whenever possible. Although she is cute in her own way, I have never found K. to be much to my taste.

For the event, their mother had dressed the girls all alike - long-sleeve sky blue tops and flower print leggings. They did look quite cute.

I was fortunate that day to be manning the children's book giveaway table for the church library. All three sisters were early customers. Although I managed to say a few words to S., I wasn't able to make any connection.

As it turns out, K. was the one who ended up capturing my heart that day. And as she spent more and time time around me, I grew to deeply appreciate her unique special charm.

K. had chosen a hiding place right behind where I was sitting in the shade to observe the church festival action. K. started talking to me while safely snuggled in her hiding place, which, being a shallow columnar depression, wasn't much of a hiding place at all. She was charming and witty, and I actually enjoyed listening to her.

The moment that captured my heart was when K. brought back a balloon sword from one of the festival artists, and presented it to me as a gift. I was genuinely touched. From the two or three subsequent visits by her, I have a feeling that I will be getting much more attention from K. in the coming future.

Later on, I also managed to make a connection with B. B. was quite busy exploring the festival with another little girl her age. As they ran all about, B would often pass right by me. On one of those occasions, I addressed B. by name and said hello. She gave me a brief smile as she scurried past. However, later that morning when the family was packing up to go, B. turned around and beamed me a very warm smile. That truly warmed my heart.

I have yet to see the sisters since that day. Possibly I'll see them next Sunday. But I'm sure that there will be many more chances to get to know them better.
