For anyone that needs a criminal attorney for their own defense, I would suggest they do anything possible to raise the money to retain the best attorney out there. It can make the difference between being found guilty and not guilty, and if you're found guilty, it could reduce your sentence by years.

I think anyone would be hard-pressed to find someone that would defend them in a criminal matter pro-bono, and of course the quality of public defenders is common knowledge.
