By the way, I'm wondering how long one has to be a member of GC before one is allowed to make a sizeable financial contribution. Because I hear there are prerequisites for that sort of thing. :P

I just wanted to make a comment here. The official GC policy is to require posters to be eligible for chat access. Eligibility for chat access is laid out in the FAQ item 21.

Now for some background information ... several years ago there was a major campaign by anti's against the fund raising efforts of CL related forums which included attacks on the businesses and organizations simply providing the mailboxes used.

In response to that GC and other forums tightened up their policies on providing mailing details so that those details were provided to proven over time trusted participants only.

There are always exceptions to the rules, and those exceptions are handled in private correspondence with the treasurer. For instance, a long time BC poster wanted to contribute though he was not a registered poster on this forum ... and that was allowed.
