Years ago, on two different instances at the popular marina I was in, I met two different world sailing couples who had stopped in Canada. At first, I had thought the men and the girls were fathers and daughters. But further conversation brought me to the realization that they each were husband and wife. One couple had met in Thailand and the other couple were from another country in the same region (I just forget where they had met. I think it was Australia) I had met both couples on different years.

I could only assume there had been a sexual relationship with the second couple because I didn't get to talk to the young girl much. But it was blatantly obvious that She was not his daughter and they were traveling alone.

The first couple, I did get to talk to the young girl. In fact, I basically spoke with Her first. When She realized that She had let slip Her "secret", we continued to discuss it a bit. I let Her know that I would keep it a secret. Later, when discussing boats, just as Her father and Her were departing the visit with me, I let Her father know that I knew and had approved of it all.

These were two examples that I had met myself over the years. However, I have read many articles in the media over the years that, if you read between the lines, you know what was going on. In fact, several cases have been brought into public view when U.S. Big Brother crashed into the Southeast Asian country and arrested one of their own for just that. A sexual encounter with a minor. Several other examples, I could only imply that the sailing couple were not just friends. There was one husband and wife sailing couple that I had read articles of (names withheld for privacy) that had invited a young fellow to go voyaging with them. They had a young, teenage daughter. You do the math. Another, very famous sailor had sailed around the world; the last part of his voyages was with a young boy. The two ended up in Thailand. If you know anything about world sailing in the late 20th century, you will know whom I am referring to.

It's out there. Relationships between an adult male and a young kid do happen in countries like some Southeast Asian countries or South American countries or parts of African countries. Because it's almost a worldwide taboo, it's usually covered up. It's not a common thing, but it IS out there.
