People no longer care about their civil liberties. They care about their standard of life. The modern world has outgrown notions like freedom. They’re content to follow.

The powers that be are powers that be because the people allow it. Today, very slowly, people have given away all their rights and have allowed Big Brother to be the powers that be. The thought police are not far behind.


I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them. I am free because I know that I alone am morally responsible for everything I do.

But, I am very, very careful about how I break things. Eyes wide open, you know.
