A very well thought and written response, thank you and just good points to consider and reflect on.
My own feeling is that I think women could actually be more tolerant and supportive of change than men rather than hard line against the idea. I say that because while I know of some women who are very much anti-pedophile I also know several who are much more open and understanding. I've had women strongly defend friends of theirs who have been convicted for such relationships and argue that it's normal and natural, guys being guys and falling for pretty young girls. But that's why I feel like I'm operating blind because everyone has different views from one extreme to another and it's mostly based on assumption and reason which usually means way off reality. That's why I think we have to start with the boring piece, collecting data and forming a view based on it. We can at least then start to agree on some points like which groups are more tolerant, which are strongly anti, what factors seem to influence that and so where we should focus our efforts to gently move the needle. But it's good to see a comparison set out of other groups and what can be learned from them. |
