I was being ironic by humouring him with an attempt to at least find something of worth in his filth. It was the only way of engaging with him I could stomach. I find it hard to believe someone can hold views so utterly contemptible and devoid of any rationale - and so my first assumption was that he is being satirical.

It wouldn't be worth writing a reasoned critique of such views, it wouldn't register, like trying to dissuade a flat-Earther, or a Trump-supporter.
