That would make for a very interesting study that would never be conducted - survey and interview girls as adults whose relationships were found out about and those whose relationships weren't, have them talk about their thoughts and feelings and compare the two groups.

It was nice, and impressive that your girl lasted three years at least, though the change she experienced at 13 had to be quite painful.

I believe there are still places that wouldn't care about these types of relationships.
