Back in my 20's I think. Or was it 30's. Anyway, he was a 20-something Korean mainframe engineer, a fix-it guy, making a 6-figure salary. He REALLY liked that Orinoco Flow song that they played the shit out of everywhere, incessantly, but he was proud of his newly found English language musical taste.
Phu used to be "on call", but was usually, technically, at home sleeping in bed on his night shift. If you called Phu, it was automatically going to be an hour, at least. Sometimes tho, you could find him on the premises, sleeping in an office chair way over in the corner behind the Sun mainframe, his cleanroom hood, mask and booties (and his shoes, I might add) laying in a pile nearby. I've always admired what Phu achieved for himself.. He was a counterpoint to the Asian stereotype. He knew exactly how to play the tech game, and he was legend. Cataract stuff is easy these days. Dunno about glaucoma. Although they say the weed helps. Sadly, I lost interest in that stuff just before it got legalized. I'm pretty sure girl love will also be legalized the day after I die. |
