Football (the European sort)

The USA of course doesn't have a very big soccer culture.

In the countries where soccer has a long history, however, many clubs have specific historical social bases, and their fans tend to have specific political leanings. I won't make an exhaustive list, as that's totally off topic; but some clubs are historically left or right leaning or any other thing that is relevant in the country: Catalan nationalism for Barcelona, the religious divide in Scotland between Rangers and Celtic, and so on.

This is uncommon in the USA not just in soccer but even in the traditional American sports, other than regional rivalries like Boston vs NYC, LA vs SF, Houston vs Dallas, or Philadelphia vs Pittsburgh.
