The Left Coast includes British Columbia, to be distinguished from Colombia, Columbus Ohio and the University of Columbia. Then Washington state which is different to Washington D.C. and Washington University is actually in Saint Louis Missouri. It of course includes too Oregon and California. Of course the left is mostly coastal. The interior of all of those states and one province is more conservative.
