This whole set of changes is one of the reasons current sites limit minor participation, ban adult interaction (for instance how you tube doesn't allow comments on minors' videos and channels) and minors with a presence online are attacked. I don't know about the girls mentioned above, probably because I don't have a TikTok, but it doesn't come as a surprise to me that girls, or for that matter boys, get attacked both by stupid civilians and stupid famous people.

There were no social sites 20 years ago unless you really broadened the definition. However children of both sexes and all ages could go online and not face a barrage of stupid attacks.

Gaming is starting to move the way again in our favor, but gaming is more resource intensive than normal social sites, and it is a more specialized hobby which not all kids and not all adults have anyway. For instance I have zero interest in online gaming and very little in offline games.
