The liberal in the west is considered more pro government control and personal sacrifice especially during the time of this pandemic, and such a stance overlaps with some of the socialist values. The liberal also has a more globalist view economically which inevitably leads to more connections with the current socialist power. That being said, I still believe that the liberal vs. conservative dichotomy in American politics isn't a good reference frame when talking about political systems in general. On the global scale we tend to see more of a dictatorship vs. freedom dichotomy. It might seem that in socialist countries the taboo on pedophilia is to a lesser extent, but at the same time the government does not care about the well-being of children either. If something bad happening to the children is exposed, making the government lose face, the first thing it's going to do is to cover it up, and the real problem remains unsolved.
