Economic dirigisme has in the US entered and become inseparable from social liberalism. That's made conservatism be more free market than it used to be. Usually. Plenty of socially conservative dirigisme too.
The real issue is that the question cannot be answered for all countries at once because not all countries have the same political factions. Definitely not the same when you compare across continents, historical experiences and cultures, but often even within the same country between states or provinces or the same one of them between different small areas. E.g. rural Virginia is very different from the parts basically belonging to the DC metro area.
