I don't remember if he played Chaconne there I think all arrangements of this piece for instruments other than the violin miss the point: Bach intentionally set this for an instrument that makes it almost impossible to play 4-part harmonies: people should hear the effort needed to play something that is almost physically impossible to play, this is part of the feeling expressed here (you will know that some biographers think Bach wrote the chaconne in response to the death of his first wife). |
