It's also far easier to manipulate a mob into "believing" they are on the side of justice, for the whims and goals of people pulling their strings from above. The mob doesn't see the strings. They think they are taking part in something grassrooted and righteous. Usually this turns out to be a farce more often than being truly organic.

Had I not seen it infest this very board years ago, I would still see the same "useful idiots" across the whole of society today, just not as well as I do.

Of course, you need to believe the system itself has not already been compromised to hold any faith in it. Once that's lost, it's all chaos for a while no matter how you slice it.
