I realize there isn't much rational thought going on in the halls of power there lately, but I swear I heard something in passing not long ago that suddenly the UK (or was it the NIH?) is trying to persuade their public that marrying your relatives isn't so bad after all. I'd like to presume most people could figure out why that change in standards might suddenly be a new and gentle persuation toward the public only now.

So anyway, without giving my own opinions, that would be quite the juxtaposition to your post if true.
