d,

Thank you for your suggestions on changing opinions to be factual.

>>You have to complete probation to ever get out of the system.
>Does this apply if you are sentenced to "the max" and serve it all?

Unfortunately yes. The idea is that if you can't make your term of probation as a sex offender, the risk is too high for reoffense.

>It was as though I was talking to someone I had never met before - a

>>Sounds like the people running the SOT programs would call this a
>>success story. Is this a reasonable observation?

No, that is not accurate. The outpatient program I participated in didn't want to take me (due to being a pedophile) when I applied while incarcerated; however, another one would and the first program ended up in took me to preserve their referrals from the probation department.

A lot of it comes down to money. Program directors are typically Ph.D. psychologists, and having a SOT/DAP they typically earn more than they would in private practice - not great money, but low six figures. I calculated it out once because I knew pretty close how many people were in the center's programs and could guess fairly accurately at expenses (sans salaries for treatment staff; I assumed they had to pay a 10-20% premium over market).

Because of my pedophilia I don't think they ever felt I would be successful past probation, particularly because I never was able to maintain good control over fantasizing about children sexually (which to me means no sexual thoughts to achieve).

>Penitentiary is a dangerous place to be a known pedo at.
>>Does your state not have administrative segregation for people like
>>sex offenders and former policemen? Many do.

We have a "snitch pen" but sex offenders are not routinely segregated to it (there are a lot of offenders who turn state on others in drug/violence/etc cases to keep that place populated). If a sex offender seems particularly vulnerable - i.e. small stature, etc., they may be segregated there but it's not likely.

I have had issues with feeling suicidal a few times in my life, and before my incarceration felt very much so because of all the stories I had heard. Unfortunately when I was facing incarceration it seemed like a lot of people thought that would be a good time to share their stories of child molestors being killed in prison with me. In reality if you keep to yourself (i.e. don't get involved in dramas), don't engage in homosexual acts, don't gamble, and don't do drugs, the worst part is separation from loved ones. It becomes the routine of life, and pretty soon you're out.

They switched to the new currency while I was in and one of my first thoughts was "they're giving me counterfeit money!" when I was paid my commissary fund.

My first week in the pen a guy was murdered on my cell-block and it scared me to death. I was going through d.t.'s from quitting drinking at the time and I thought, good lord it's all true. In fact that turned out to be the rare exception - there are not many murders in prison - and it related to him having a large debt for heroin that he couldn't pay.

OT - btw d you are more than welcome to attend my play, and I would hold a ticket for you if you wanted. I bear no one in my life malice. For all of where I've been, I am genuinely one of the kindest people you'd know.

Kevin
