Super Bowl of Sex Trafficking

I came across this article and thought I'd get your thoughts on it. While I'm sure there are underage prostitutes who are controlled abusively by pimps, the whole issue wreaks of sensationalism.

The thing that jumped out at me about that article in particular was the evidence they provided to establish the scope of the problem. First they mention the number of online postings for "escorts," ominously stating that they have no way of knowing how many of those are underage (sort of like how I have no way of knowing how many ebay sellers are serial killers, I guess). Then they talk about how they base their estimates of the number of underage prostitutes on the number of runaways, strongly implying that any teenager or child that runs away from home will become a prostitute under the control of a pimp. I've run into this sort of thing before, and it just strikes me as an easy way to vastly overstate the problem.

Do any of you have more knowledge on this issue than me? I'd be interested to hear what else you've read.
