That you seek an explanation to this is again proof that you are not dismissing the argument, which would stand regardless of who makes it, but the arguers.
I certainly never suggest that questions like this are to be decided by majority vote. I believe lots of things that large majorities don't believe. It's an independent question why some people believe it and some don't. Reasons for people's beliefs is an interesting area of study, separate from the truth or falsity of the belief. (Note to self: Ignore the character assassination, just answer the one question where there's something new to say...) |
