And always changing. Up until 1973, homosexuality was officially in the same "sickness" category as pedophilia. And it took awhile for the laymen to catch up even after that. I remember hearing gay/AIDS activists talking about how in the 1980s when HIV/AIDS was starting to be in the news, they would go on talk shows and the audience would chant "Faggot! Faggot!" like The Jerry Springer Show's audience chants "Jerry! Jerry!" in more recent times. Pedophilia was once more accepted than it is now (historically low ages of consent and marriageable age, no child pornography possession laws). And it will possibly be more acceptable one day than it's ever been. Possibly within at least some of our lifetimes. The gay community went for it and they got it and are still getting it. Can we do the same? Are we willing to do the same?
