Is that we place so much stock in our relationships with LGs.

They are so important to us.

Yet whenever I try to explain this to one of my friends, they are seemingly perplexed by the idea that a little family member is one of the most important people in my life even though I typically don't see her more than 2 or 3 times a year.

It's like, since they don't place any special value on their relationships with kids, we shouldn't either.

"Why would you get so attached to someone who you can never be with? Isn't that more painful and frustrating than it's worth? Why not focus on finding happiness in other areas of your life?"

I don't really know what else to tell them at that point other than "Because I am a pedo, and this is what I do."
