The orthodox Jews consider a woman "unclean" when she is having her period. The men will not touch her or look her in the eye when she is having her period. However, since they have no way of knowing when it's that time of the month, most orthodox Jewish men never touch women at all. Not even their own wives - they make love through a sheet with a hole in it.

Damn... is this nonsensical myth still floating around?! The orthodox Jews that I know well, including those in my immediate family (most of whom have very good sex lives, all touching, all feeling, etc, thankyouverymuch), roll their eyes in amazement when they hear this silliness return yet again. But it keeps on coming back. Some people will believe anything.
