Half the time in your story you seem to be terrified of the consequences of not unwaveringly hiding your feelings, and half the time you're enjoying your situation but fear allowing yourself to do so will bring disaster.

I've always been extremely careful not to let my preferences known but despite how hard I've tried my wife knows that I'm a lgl.

Maybe it's your tell-tale heart: You're so tense sometimes that you can't help slipping and doing things like kissing girls on the shoulder.

Maybe if you didn't try so hard you'd do better.

She dropped by our house a few days ago and announced with a big smile that she thought I had a crush on her. I couldn't breath. Had I let something slip? My wife gave me a dirty look and I tried to laugh it off and left the room. I was afraid and excited about that comment. Afraid that if she said that sort of thing to the wrong people I could be in some serious trouble, and excited that she didn't seem to have a problem with me liking her in that way!

You have to realize: A little girl's saying she thinks you have a crush on her doesn't mean you did something that should make that evident. If you were more confident, you could feel justified in maintaining, without necessarily saying anything, that you didn't act in a manner betraying a crush. If she says that sort of thing to the wrong people, that shouldn't get you in serious trouble. That doesn't mean that it wouldn't, but the more secure you are the better you can defend yourself against the idea that you did something wrong.
