I had to laugh reading Peter's post- just like he describes, I was pretty drunk when I came out to those that I have. I advise against that method- leads to lots of slapping of one's self on the head saying 'stupid, stupid, stupid.'

While I never intended to come out that way, I did intend to come out. Since I never could figure out a "good" way to do so, it just creeped out when I was at my least inhibited. I advise that you make a concious decision to come out in a sober state of mind; free of anger or passions of drink/drugs. You'll have a better time of it, and lots less damage control to do the next day. I don't regret coming out even in such a way, and have since taken the time to talk rationally about it with the people I told. Still, I wish I had taken my time and done it better the first time.
