Sure, I haven't been in a situation like that before, but your story pulls a heartstring. I understand why you would feel this way. Heck, I know I would. But Devotion's right. Don't try to do anything stupid. Just ride it out and have faith. This guy is just an obstacle for you two. However, don't get your hopes too high in case things don't work out. Just my advice. :)
