I hope my stance on this issue "in the middle" doesn't make me come off as a puritan to you :( A few tidbits:
I am not disgusted by most gms.
Nor am I...I think most GM's on this board are far from offensive, and all of their attendant 'sexiness' are quite welcome, even if I do not share the same AOA with the majority of posters here. Even Furby only bugs me some of the time; my major concerns are not so much with his posts, but the fact of such posts being made on a public message board monitored by thousands of peeps daily. You know that I am more than happy to hear any amount of sex talk in the relative privacy of the chat room.
I do not believe we are ever going to see "respectibility", or gain mainstream acceptance, in my life time, so F 'em if they don't understand.
I hope that we do indeed achieve it within your lifetime, as you're not that old, and the online press at least is slowly but surely starting to give us more objective attention; this bodes well for us. This is why I do not like seeing some of us go overboard on a public message forum, with no regard to the fact that we are NOT talking like this in isolation. I do not want to see anything said here used against us every three months that some big shot politician or CA is trying to make themselves look "good" and "responsible" by pushing for more legal censures against us.
Please don't let this become so divisive as it has in the BL community.
I was unaware that the BL community is so divided.
If I ever hear the phrase "responbible boylove" in my life again, I'm gonna puke in a bucket!!!
Why a bucket? Don't you have a toilet in your house? :)
And I totally agree with you in regards to the probable definition of "responsible boylove" that you mention up above, i.e., where the BLer (or GLer, whatever the case may be) is required to look askance at their own sexual desires. Please understand, once again, is that my concern with this issue extends to the fact that such statements are made on a public message board, rather than in private. My GM's are replete with sexual observations, but I strive to never make them go overboard, and I hardly admire the AG's I saw that do for their outer shells or attire only (even though that is definately a part of my admiration for them). I would welcome the legal right to have a hot make-out session with a lovely AG, and even have full sexual intercourse with her if the both of us desired that...but I have an even greater desire to simply be allowed to participate in their social world, rather than only view it from the sidelines, and I certainly want all concerned parties out there to see every side of me that pertains to my status as a "boy in man's clothing" (as you once rather eloquently put it, IIRC).
Don't tell me how to raise my own children or mentor the others I care about. Love and lust can coexist or be mutually exclusive.
I fully agree with the above.
I think it is best to agree to disagree or the consequences are going to be people becoming angry, starting a dozen spin-offs, and all the communities being smaller. If that is what people want, so be it, but I would like to see the group celebrate its diversity and not squabble over "the rules", whatever anyone might perceive them to be.
For what it's worth, I have never proposed that Furby's posts, or any other "sleaze" post, be deleted or the poster banned; I have simply suggested that such posters be more mindful of the fact that this is a public message board, and I would not want to see our future emancipation, or even the youth liberation agenda, be hindered because of this. If there are large numbers of posters here who do not care about that, and who insist that it matters not at all since they believe that the day of our emancipation is not going to occur until after the length of their lifetime, then so be it; but as a person who does care, and who wants to see progress as soon as possible without resigning myself to the "no emancipation in my lifetime" belief, I sometimes feel the need to speak out and say "ease up a bit, guys" as much as I often remind the puritans among us to "lighten up" (as BB did up above).
If that is what people want, so be it, but I would like to see the group celebrate its diversity and not squabble over "the rules", whatever anyone might perceive them to be. As a healthy bi woman, you think I don't drool over a pair of tight jeans on the right bod? I may not choose to write about it, most of you wouldn't be excited by the same sights as me anyway, but I would like the freedom to say "damn she was hot, or "man he made me weak at the knees", without being crucified.
I agree, also, and I too would love to be able to express open admiration for AG's in public in the manner you described above (though isn't the "weak at the knees" phrase a bit obsolete now?). However, I think a few posters sometimes go much further than that, and I think that AP made a good point up above in this thread.
Some of the people here choose celibacy, and more power to them, but some of us want to experience life to the fullest in our lives and our dreams, without breaking laws and putting ourselves in danger. Where do we get to vent? I thought this was about supporting one another in our commonalities, not bickering.
I also agree with the above, though I believe that sometimes it's better to let some things out in the chat room, rather than on a public message board...then again, that's just my opinion. Making certain statements on the board many indeed end up putting all of us in danger on many different levels, and this is what I'm concerned about sometimes.
A house divided...
I hope not :(

Mutual, I'm sure :)
