I wanted to throw out the idea of neoteny because I have seen
many discussions about the possible evolutionary origins
of pedophilia, yet not one mentioned neoteny.

Your suggestion about the switch from a morality stressing
a high birth rate to one stressing a low birth rate is a good one.

To start with, let me make the observation that "morality"
has always been determined, first and foremost, by what is useful
to the survival of the species. Any "morality" that was not useful
has literally died out. That said, as conditions change,
so does morality, and what WAS moral not long ago can suddenly become
highly IMmoral.

In the case of current birth rates, it should be noted that
in the developed world, birth rates have already fallen
to below replacement levels. As other nations become richer,
we can expect their birth rates to fall too.

I'm not sure if paedophilia plays any role at all in this.
However, I think that anything that causes no harm should be allowed,
and I am decidedly unconvinced that paedophilia causes any notable harm; -
and it certainly causes far less harm than the suppression of sexuality
within the context of modern society.

What WILL be interesting in the future - perhaps not-so-distant -
is the effect that an aging population will have on society.
Theoretically, there is no reason anyone ever has to die,
and when practice finally approaches theory there will be
a population explosion, not because of a high birth-rate,
but due to a low death-rate. When that happens I don't know
what we'll come up with. I am afraid that that could be very bad
for girl-lovers, as it may lead to a shortage of girls to love.
However, there may be other solutions. There are a number of women
who are still girls at heart, and some of them might like to have
the bodies of girls as well - and by that point we should be able
to oblige them.

I do agree about being born too early. I often feel that way,
and have been at the forefront of a number of trends. I would like
to get this done within my lifetime, but I'll be happy
if future generations of girls and girl lovers can reap the harvest
that we sow.
