Hi!!!

Mmmm, this thread clearly needs my participation...

I believe that... although clearly the fact that society is kinda pushing down the ages at which explicitly sexy, grown-uppish wear is worn, many factors have to account for it and consequences are in several directions. First, I think that has to do in part with the increasing sexualisation of society in general. But I am far from advocating a "recovery of the mores" here, as is obvious if you ever read me. On the contrary, I believe it is a natural thing, and one that needs to happen as this society cures itself from the chastity belt imposed on the future generations by the Victorian reactionaries of the 1880-1890s and the 1980-1990s. It has to happen at the individual level and that is the proof thereof. It certainly does have negative aspects, such as those you mention, of the increased tensions and stress to which it subjects our tweens that are increasingly pressed by peers and society at large to look well, fashionable and, yes, sexy. But that would happen anyway at one point or another and it is a quite necessary part of growing up. If it didn't happen at 9-12, then it would still happen at 15, or at 18 or at 21... it doesn't matter what you do, there is still going to be a point in life when girls (and boys for that matter) will start worrying about how they are physically perceived by their peers and society at large... Third, and I will never stop believing this, part of it is caused by the fact that kids are explicitly forbidden any kind of sexual experience or exploration. They are trying, I believe, in a way, to circumvent this by an earlier beginning of their most overtly sexual aspect, which in this case is how they look. They will anyway end up finding a way to get sexual, whether or not this is with their parents knowledge or approval, and this helps, as it gives them a few more years of trying... And fourth, I end up agreeing that this happens, not just because tweens are my absolute favourite attraction base and I can't help liking more bare skin than less... but also because this is already pushing some serious talk into what kind of hypocritical society and culture are we creating, where kids are increasingly aware of their bodies, their attractiveness and their sexuality, yet at the same time we are denying them from the expression of those feelings -therefore creating a framework for both abuse and unpleasant experiences (such as teenage pregnancies)... Such behaviours by the kids themselves are going to change that...

At that, Baldur gives an excellent response... let all tell the girls that they are beautiful... they many times need it...

Which also tells me my note a month or two ago was just so damn right to have been written...

And finally...

When my 12 year old friends and I would be out and old men stared at us, we'd all screech and say "ewwwwww, that creepy old guy is looking at you!" But if it was a 20 yr old guy, it would be like "omg, is that guy looking at me? omg what do i do, do i look ok?"

I am absolutely about to get a shave
Don't like the hippie look no longer, at least, not when I can look younger than my 23

(Bold and Italics are correct this way)
