40 rods to the hogshead? That's pretty poor mileage, let me tell you. That's about 9 U.S. gallons per chain. The Space Shuttle gets better mileage than that at take-off. ;-) (OK, not quite.)

My car, on the other hand, gets over 2300 leagues per tun.
