It's working... so far!

Almost four years ago, I posted a GM that started out great, and ended very badly. There's a link to it below. If you don't want to follow the link, then in summary, I spent 30 minutes having a wonderful time with an lg, then later told she can't play with me anymore 'cuz I'm a stranger. Since then, I've seen her many times. Each time I've smiled at her, and gotten in return, at best, a half-smile, maybe a lame wave.

About a year ago, I found out (quite by accident) who her father is, and that he's the friend of a friend. So, over the past year, I've been spending a lot of time at the pool with my friend, and by that connection, her father. I never mentioned his daughter, nor did he say anything about having a daughter.

A couple weeks ago, I decided it was time to put my plan into action. I made sure I was ready to leave the pool when her father was, and left the locker room when he did. I knew she would be waiting right outside the door. When we got to the hallway, he said "This is my daughter." I said "Oh" *surprised*. "She is a very pretty girl!" He thanked me for saying that, and she had a huge smile on her face.

A couple of nights ago, I saw her at the pool, first time since 'meeting' her. She was playing with someone else, but smiled and waved when she saw me. A couple of times after that, she came over to have a short conversation. Maybe not much, but a giant leap from what things used to be. I hope they continue to get better.
