You'd never see a journalist writing an article about how "sick and evil" corporate thiefs are

While it didn't come out that way at the beginning, by the time the thieving former corporate bigwigs were on trial, some major media outlets were describing them in the same terms they used for accused sex offenders.

The difference though is between a crime against property (grandma may have died but it was because she couldn't afford her medicine because of the crooked corporate thiefs) rather than a crime against a person (grandma died because a robber shot her). Crimes against persons are almost always considered more "serious" than crimes against property, at least in America. This is even if the "crime" is a "crime" in-name-only, such as statutory rape.
