Well, from my own childhood I can say that at age 4 or 5, any sort of gentle touching was acceptable from someone who was my friend. I wouldn't have thought of it as sexual as such, but I would have enjoyed the closeness.

It was only when I was about 5-1/2 that I started to understand sexuality more clearly and became interested in sex.

On the other hand, this differs by individual. A woman I have known since we were children has told me that she started desiring sex - with men, not boys - when she was 4.
