I think its fine if you just plan on being a family friend, but he's talking about manipulating the parents in order to get close to the child. That demonstrates an obsession, not just an attraction.

I don't see any manipulation going on period. He's stating that even trying to be platonic friends with a child can be a witch hunt ready to happen. He isn't saying do this to get laid, he's saying you might not be instantly brandished as a sick pervert if you're smart about the way parents think.

You also said you would never do anything. If you only love children platonically, then you would not need to post here. Platonic, nonsexual, and non-romantic love for children is socially acceptable.

Illegal, no... Socially acceptable, if you're a family friend, a member of the family, etc. For a complete stranger you might as well say a hi or give a smile and a wink, but in this witch hunt days you might not even get away with that. LK was specifically talking about ways to become trustworthy as a complete stranger. But with trust comes responsibility and LK totally admitted that he would not dare cross that line.

Additionally, this contracticts your statement that "it's crazy to go through life without love." If your involvements with children are limited to platonic, nonsexual, non-romantic relations, then you may indeed be going though life without love.

You obviously have a different definition of love than most of us have. I don't know any long-timer here who wouldn't give up a sexual encounter with a child to become a lifelong trusted friend of theirs. (of course we want more but that is sex not love. Love is all the emotions as well)

Those that post on this site do so not just because they love children, but because they have romantic and sexual feelings for them, too. One cannot truely satisfy those feelings and be compliant with the law at the same time.

Maybe not satisfy the sexual aspect, but a close emotional relationship can stave off some of those desires. One thing you'll find out being here is that most of us know how to keep it in our pouch.
