Hi Dissy,

My guess is that when she gave you the marker cap, she was inviting you to either color with her, or for you to go watch her color. Since you didn't seem interested, she took it back and went about her business.

Children, especially toddlers, are very egocentric. They want to be the center of attention. I think if you had shown interest, (perhaps gone over and complimented her coloring) you would have made a little friend.

Of course there is always the obvious; she just needed someplace to put the cap for a bit and you were conveniently there.
