As soon as I sat down in a chair to wait for my turn to see the doctor, that toddler girl walked up to me and handed me the cap to one of the markers she was coloring with (not the marker itself, mind you; just the cap).

There is indeed a deep psychological meaning behind this.

The toddler handed over the cap - the female portion of the unit, whilst retaining the marker itself, the male portion.

Essentially, she was initiating a gender swap.

In unspoken words she was saying, "How would YOU like being a little girl stuck on the floor of a doctor's waiting room with nothing to do but scribble, whilst waiting to have your bits poked at by a doctor?"

Well, its a theory. Not a good theory, but still a theory.
