First of all, I never said being a teacher was easy - I would never suggest that! I was just saying that people don't automatically jump to the conclusion "Pedophile!" when they see a teacher spending time with children.

I know exactly what you mean about being unsure about your own motivations - that was an issue that bothered me all the time I worked with children but whenever I run in to any of the kids or their parents now, the things they say convince me that, whatever was going on in my head at the time, I achieved a lot of good. I'm just asking that you don't dismiss it out of hand.

I have no desire to pry but from what you said it sounds as if you are still quite young yourself so you have plenty of time to find your place in the world.

Do you have any friends with children? Maybe you could try spending time with them as a friend of the family and see how you get on. I think you might be pleasently surprised. In my experience, when you really get to know a girl you'll find yourself enjoying her company and feeling protective of her and any sexual attraction to her you may feel will take a back seat - you'll be friends first and foremost.

For what it's worth, I find the times when my attractions bother me most are when I try to avoid contact with little girls alltogether. Being around them in a social context eases my pain and frustrations and may do the same for you.
