Small Primates

Homo Sapiens are marked by their curiousity and by the fact that they're a social creature.

In the absence of training to the contrary ( "Its not polite to stare." Stranger-Danger &tc,) they will tend to follow their instincts.

That said, toddlers are not blank slates. Its hard to determine what influences shape us, but being shy or outgoing shows up in early infancy; and the apprehensive tot rarely becomes an outgoing teen.

Since I was one of those shy babies, I always appreciate the girl; toddler or otherwise, who approaches me socially.
