Whether it is a parent or a friend, such as you, children need adults in their lives. Yet so many times adults go on with their own busy lives, selfishly tending to grownup things, ignoring/forgetting that there are young people who need them.

I agree. Now an admission.

At the start of the day I had forgotten this. I wanted to go my own way and do my own selfish 'adult' things. I had places to go, things I'd rather be doing. But later on that day I was talking to a friend who was more familiar with the girl than I. Then I realized how important that day might have been for her. After all she confided in me. My whole perspective changed, because the most important thing was the girl's perspective. She reminded me of something I almost forgot.
