Any sentence such as this should send up warning flags; you are extrapolating from the specific to the general: "I, and those of my acquaintance, usually respond in the language with which we are addressed; therefore, all other multilingual people do also." False; try speaking Spanish or German to me while in America and listen to what language I use to respond, even though I am capable of responding in either of them. Strangely enough, if you speak French to me, I will respond in French. Weird, ain't I?

Certainly an extrapolation - but that is why I put "usually" not "always". She might be multilingual and yet reply in English, I know. I used the extrapolation just as circumstancial evidence that she probably doesn't speak Spanish. It does not prove it by any means, one of the reasons being just what you said. I am only saying why I assumed what I assumed, but I have already accepted that those assumptions are actually not supported by LOD alone.

Because of the way she reacted, not because of the rejection itself. There is an infinite number of ways of saying "sorry, no, leave me alone" that are not rude.
