Haha, incidentally, when he made that remark, I was writing a report at the time on the topic of contributing factors to the fall of Rome (that was how the subject came up). So, I knew that there was nothing to his claim as it left his lips. I just didnt feel like arguing the point because I didnt think it deserved a response.

My father actually tends to be much more knowledgeable in matters of history than I am. History was a large part of his education, and he often surprises me with the names and dates he pulls out of nowhere when we watch documentaries and trivia shows and such.

The major reason he made such an asinine statement about this, was because he was half-in-the-bottle at the time. He is a dumb drunk, more so than a mean drunk. I dont think he made the statement so much based on historical accuracy as on using the opportunity to randomly lash out at the sexual deviants he detests. Thats pretty much the way things go with him. I dont really let it bother me. As I said, I dont think he would ever accept my sexual orientation, but in the long run, thats not so important. I dont really value his opinion on the subject. I would rather have the approval of my friends and possibly a LGF and her parents. I know that is a far-off dream, but at least I would consider it a possibility.
